What we collect
When you book an appointment we collect your name, email address, phone number and the details of your booking. When a business joins BookNova we collect business details such as trading name, address, services, staff names and opening hours. If you create an account we store your email and login credentials securely. We also keep records of bookings, cancellations, payments and the emails we send you, so your booking history works properly.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches BookNova's servers. We receive only confirmation of payment, the amount, and a reference so we can match it to your booking. Stripe's handling of your information is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
How we use your information
We use your information to take, confirm, remind you about and manage bookings; to pass your booking details to the business you booked with; to send transactional emails such as confirmations, reminders, cancellations and refunds; to operate businesses' dashboards; and to keep the platform secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Who sees your information
The business you book with sees your booking details, exactly as a salon would if you phoned them. Our service providers process data on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Supabase (database hosting), Vercel (website hosting) and Resend (email delivery). Each is bound by its own security and privacy obligations. We may disclose information where required by Australian law.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to make bookings work. Analytics run only if you accept them in the consent banner; declining never affects your ability to book.
Security and retention
Data is stored encrypted at rest with strict access controls, and every business's data is isolated from every other's. We keep booking and payment records as required for tax, accounting and dispute purposes, and delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to records we must keep by law. Contact us at bookings@booknova.net and we will respond promptly. If you are unsatisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes and contact
